When Life gives you lemons ... Make a Zadie Jumpsuit !

First ... HELLO!  It has been a while since I have done a blog post but it feels good to be back in a creative space. Thank you to all that have asked about me and how I have been doing .. it is REALLY appreciated. Life has definitely gotten in the way lately and I have learned a lot of hard lessons about strength and resilience but I am here and I am ready to press on. We have all been dealing with COVID in some way or another and it has really hit me hard in many ways that I did not expect nor were prepared for. I am happy to say that I have been able to remain healthy through this ongoing ordeal but there have been many other circumstances arrived that have really tested my strength.  If you have been following me for a while you know that I am Director of Technology at an independent School here in Alabama. Unfortunately, schools have been right smack dab in the middle of COVID, politics, and everything else. With little guidance from ANYONE, we have had to weed our way through m

The Lena Horne Dress

The Lena Horne Dress

If you have missed this GEM circulating through the sewing stratosphere then you are living under a rock !! This is Tabitha Sewer's Lena Horne Dress! My first thought after seeing this pattern honestly was, "very cute but not quite my style". Then, women of different shapes, sizes and colors began to show their version and I knew that if nothing else I needed to support my friend!  The Lena Horne Dress I purchased the PDF pattern because I wanted the option of being able to print it again in different sizes later, but I'm having SERIOUS FOMO because I didn't get to experience the CUTE irridescent packaging that the pattern comes in! The construction of the pattern was simple enough. It only had 5 pieces so that was an IMMEDIATE win in my book. Once I completed the pattern I had to decide what type of fabric I wanted to use. One feature of the pattern stands out and that is the ruffle front. I knew I needed to find a fabric that would really

Lace and Shine

Lace and Shine

This set almost took me out but it was soooo worth it in the end. I purchased both pieces of fabric over a year ago but wasn't sure what I wanted to make with them then so they went into my stash. When I set off on my linen play project I decided it was time to use this beautiful "Linen Look" fabric and I knew EXACTLY what I wanted to do with it. Enters this FABULOUS pant pattern my Mimi G /Simplicity!  Like the fabric, I purchased this pattern the moment it came out but kept it in my pattern stash for the perfect set..... This was it! The shirt pattern was definitely an after thought but I knew it would pair perfectly with the idea I had in my head for the pants ...... I love how this set came out but the top was definitely a doozie. The pattern itself was very easy to put together but the fabric was definitely a challenge to work with! The first time I put the top together I put the sleeves on backward so I had to red
