So
with Valentines Day coming up I've been in a " Red" mood !! I am not a
huge red fan BUT every now and then I find really RADIANT reds that I
just HAVE to sew !!
I found this gorgeous Red Matte Jersey at Hancock Fabrics last week and I knew instantly what I wanted to make out of it !
I
had seen this pattern a few weeks ago (View E) , I loved the side drape
of the shirt but I wanted to make it a bit longer . I knew that with
the side drape falling in the right place it would really make this
otherwise basic top into a gorgeous tunic if I did it right.
Pattern used:
I had been stalking this pattern for a while ALL because of the drape and I had recently purchased a pair of leggings from Walgreen 's that I have been dying to wear !! So! tunic it was!
Bit
of FYI : If you have a Walgreen's in your area, every so often they
will have a sale on their tights for 2 for $10. Ladies these arent just
any tights tho, they have fleece on the inside of them so they are SUPER
warm and EXTRA comfortable !!
I cut the paterm piece horizontal at the waistline marker and added the six inches, next I moved the marker on the pattern ( for the drape point) down six inches. This gave it the length I wanted , plus the drape fell in the exact spot I wanted it to . Now, if you make your own please take into account your torso length . I have a really short torso so six inches was enough for me but be sure to measure from your waist down to where you want the SHORTEST side to fall and then do the same for the pattern . That will let you know how many inches to add .
This method worked out well because the top was a loose fitting anyway .
I also added some length to the arms and added a elastic band at the wrist!
I
love the way it turned out !! I paired it with some GAWGEOUS boots and
accessories that I got from Charlotte Russe for 18 dollars !!! I sew
don't believe that you have to spend a fortune to look FAB !!
I also purchased some FAUX Leather and made a super easy cluth.
The pattern was super easy to follow .. and alterations where a breeze.
I will be making another soon!!
Lovely tunic, the color looks great on you. I like the longer length. Sometimes the pattern is just an idea--how we work it brings out the designer in us.
ReplyDeleteLove your entire oufit!
ReplyDeleteGreat sewing! Looks good. I was on step 6 of this same top n noticed the hang on the front didnt matchup with the back. They were opposite. I have been going to the beginning to find out what could have gone wrong. I assume u didnt have that problem.
